Tanner Young - Classic Country, Gospel & Oldies


Tanner is a 21-year-old multi-award winning singer/musician/recording artist from Oklahoma that enjoys classic country and oldies music.  He has been playing since he was 9 years old and is self-taught on several different instruments including the guitar, mandolin, dobro, fiddle, lap steel, banjo and bass.

Tanner received the 2014 "Rising Legend Award" from the National Traditional Country Music Association for which he was extremely honored because they only give out one for the entire nation each year!  His gospel CD won "2015 Gospel CD of the Year" from the Rural Roots Music Commission.

In 2012 he was 1st Runner-Up in the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame John Ritter Tribute Showcase.  He was also the 2013 receipent of the "People's Choice Award" in the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame Contest.  He has won several other awards and contests including 1st Place in the National Guitar Contest in Le Mars, Iowa and 1st Place Junior Division at the Oklahoma Sandbass Festival in 2009 allowing him to open for the Randy Rogers Band.  Just 4 months after picking up the mandolin he won 3rd Place in the Oklahoma Junior Mandolin Contest and a couple of years later he was 1st Place in the Oklahoma Junior Flat Picking Contest.

Tanner started out strictly bluegrass but in the past several years has fallen in love with classic country music influenced by Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens and the list goes on and on.  Now he has added many genres to his play list including blues, oldies, 70's and everything in between.  He performs at many opry shows, theaters and 1 & 2 hour shows of his own, as well as being a huge crowd favorite at festivals.  In his spare time he loves to entertain at nursing homes and assisted living centers several times a month.
